Yours - the Words

Where U R
Jeffry Swertfeger

We all have our cross to bear
skeletons in closets
where we hide them from the eyes
of those around us.
Imprisoned by our sins and shame
spending precious time to blame
forgetting that he long ago forgave us.

The cross of Christ-
the sign of our salvation
and in his time we all will know-
we all will know,
that where we are-
is where the Lord will find us
and where we are is where he is.
And on that road,
we all have our Damascus
and he will meet us where we are-
and he will meet us where we are.
So take your children by the hand
and read to them the stories of the man
who gave his very life to save us-
and as it's written so we're told,
for three days passed and there behold
the Son of Man had risen- Alleluia!

Yours
Jeffry Swertfeger

Walking, or writing- I marvel at your works
When I try to take it in it sometimes hurts
I can't comprehend the love
I'm told he has for me
I know you love your son as much
as I love mine
And reading, believing,
the words he wrote to me
in my soul, it's there I know
they've set me free
The cross that took your son away
has given him to me
That's a gift of love that I cannot repay
That is why there's only one
who draws us to this place
If you could look inside our hearts
you'd find him there
Reaching, searching
for those who have not heard
To touch their lives and change their hearts
with just one word.
Serving, and praying that there might be a way
to change the will of those who say
they've turned away.

Galilee
Jeffry Swertfeger

Row the boat to Galilee
For there's a man that I must see.
A crowd had gathered a thousand strong.
I feel it's there that I belong.
And man the oars and hoist the sail
pray the winds of peace prevail
steer toward the morning light
they say this man is Jesus Christ.
Five thousand came that day
and when the day was done
the words that filled the air
were of praises for a father and his son
and I sail on.
Row the boat to Galilee.
The waves- they play a song for me,
the gulls- they race toward the shore,
I pray to see him there once more.
There's miracles in Galilee.
I've heard he made a blind man see,
of lame he touched and now they walk- the
mute he touched and now they talk.
They broke his body on a simple cross that day-
they washed their hands
but when they rolled the stone away
he was gone
and I sing on.
Find a room in Galilee.
Disciples there we all would be.
Believe that I am who they say-
and share my love along the away.
And take with you from Galilee
the words I say and all you see,
seek out those who have not heard
and take my words to all the world.
They sing his praises and I long to see they day-
I stand before the throne and hear my Father say
I missed you so-welcome home.

The Path
Jeffry Swertfeger and Jim Maher

I know you dream that every path
will lead to the same place
that every trail is full of beauty to feel.
But we all know that getting lost
is an easy thing to do-
and the dream is not the same
as what is real.
And there is a path, there is a path
It is so straight but so narrow too.
It's easy to find but easy to miss
there is room on this path for you.
I know we walk on different roads
sincerely on our own.
I know that I would love to say
we both will be fine.
Oh but that is not is not the way
No that is not the truth.
Because the path that you walk
is not the same as mine.

repeat chorus

So much in life is an echo of truth,
for the first rays of light were so pure.
But in the ebb of the shadow
we can't place our trust
for our feet need a road that is sure.

The Push
Jeffry Swertfeger

Are we left or are we right?
Are we gray or black and white?
It all depends upon your focus.
Men in sheets or men in black
will kill the soul like a heart attack,
We cannot let hate control us.

A helping hand can build a bridge,
when the day is done it's what you did,
we can start by understanding.
Hand in hand our path is clear,
you are my brother, have no fear.
To take this wall down all we really need-
is a little push.

Brick by brick and stone by stone
this wall of lies can't stand alone,
we just need cooperation.
Find the words and find the will.
To get the check and pay the bill.
All it takes is education.
So take my hand across that bridge,
we'll look back on what we did,
and see a younger generation.
Hopefully we've taught them well
to see the signs and when to tell,
to take the wall down all they really need-
is a little push.

Talk to Him
Jeffry Swertfeger

Has a sunrise ever brought you to your knees?
Has a newborn ever brought you to believe?
Has an act of kindness brought you to forgive
like it brought me?
Can you honestly deliver what you say?
Is there no one who can help you on your way?
If you'd only take the time to stop and pray,
he'd set you free.

I was the one climbing the ladder
Not so very long ago.
"Not now son, there is work to be done"
With the weight of the world in tow.
Every night, I'd look in the mirror
Not knowing the things I missed.
Bows in the hair and the bed time prayers
And the touch of a daughter's kiss.
Has a memory ever stirred you from your sleep?
Have you held your child
and prayed their soul to keep?
On the ledge of faith you'll find the will to leap
if you turn to him.
Look no further than his grace to guide you home.
Be a point of light and reap the seeds you've sown.
For what awaits you is a love you've never known
if you'll turn to him.

Shadow of Calvary
Jeffry Swertfeger

God bless friends like you who guide me
And the Lord above.
God bless my wife who stands beside me
And my children, gifts of love.
As my walk draws closer to you
What will you have of me
Most of all I pray you hold me
In the shadow of Calvary
God bless this world and all your wonders
For with my eyes I've seen.
Hearts of stone and wills unyielding
Bow their heads to thee
repeat chorus
Time after time I have failed you.
But you never turned from me.
Lost and afraid, but for sins you forgave
On the cross upon Calvary
On the cross upon Calvary
In the shadow of Calvary

Camel Dance
Jeffry Swertfeger

Three men, wandering, guided by the light.
Of a star that beckoned them to Bethlehem that night.
Foretold by prophecy of a child that would be King.
The savior they knew would come, behold a Nazarene.

The Christ child was lying there
A manger for his bed.
And there was myrrh and frankincense
And there were angels, you could hear them overhead
Singing, behold the Son of Man is born.
King Herod heard the tale and he was not amused
He held the power in his hands he swore that he would use.
The first born of Bethlehem,
his orders were to take.
No child would threaten him, an example he would make.
The angels they came to Joseph
Deep within a dream.
"Wake Mary and the child
And make for Egypt, for it's there that you must flee"
And they made off into the night.
Two thousand years have passed, the story's all the same.
We celebrate the holiday that bears his name.
The wise men are you and I, we're seeking for the lost.
We'll guide you on a walk of faith toward the cross.

3C's Lullaby
Jeffry Swertfeger

Daddy please, daddy dear,
Won't you hold me ever near.
Sit beside me 'till the sandman comes to call.
If you will, hold me tight
While the slumber fills my night
For in the morning light when shadows fall.
Daddy promise me that your child I'll always be
Regardless of the things that I might do.
Walk me off to school,
teach me of the golden rule.
Teach me how to pray
so I can pray this prayer for you.

Walk beside me Jesus,
Your father's love has freed us.
We're all children held within your care.
I pray that if you need me,
the first time that you greet me
you'll hold me close and always keep me there.

Daddy please, daddy dear,
Though I'm growing year by year
And as the time draws near to set me free...
....If you will, hold my hand,
As I stumble, help me stand.
For in this life I know that shadows fall.

Fisherman
Jeffry Swertfeger

You can cast your net, you can drop your line
you can send your ship to sea-
You can quote your tract, you can double back
but the truth will point to me-

chorus
There is just one lighthouse, just one word
It's ageless, timeless and true-
I challenge you to follow me
I will make a fisherman of you.

Soothsayers say, and they tell you that they
know the time right down to the hour.
For a nominal fee they can guarantee
your salvation is based on the dollar
